First off:

I have never given 2 hoots about being a female gamer. i think it’s overrated at how people laud and laud and go mad about female gamers. we exist, period.

That all said and done, I also really dislike it when people assume we don’t want to read/see/hear things.  all the fuckery about “no vulgarities, we have ladies here.” or “stop talking about boobs, we have ladies here” – is utter wannabe bullshit. The way i talked about it, we were talking about how big boobs equate health hazards. in no way does that outrage anyone’s modesty (According to one guy in guild). pretentious heroism gets you nowhere.

anyways. I failed my first step into heroic naxx, and failed patchwerk healing. in my defense, i will just say that the dpsers’ health fell below 30%. my automatic healing thoughts were, if there’s a fuckup, i have a dead dps. I wasn’t assigned any healing tasks either… but i know i have always been asked to heal the ot and according to strats, i am meant to heal only tanks…

still instincts took over, and the first guy that died wouldn’t stop QQ-ing.

i am just going to sit and farm reps in h vh now.

pooey.

This sounds terribly evil but hey…..

we had to pug almost half the raid the other day as many members couldn’t turn up. infact, my new guild is so small, it was incredibly hard to maintain an “8-man”, much less hope a 10 man would turn up. At the end of the day, i think it’s quite reward and interesting, given that we are meant to learn anyways – to play together, to know each other’s quirks and obviously the boss encounters.

My guild master is quite… a casual person. so he doesn’t armory the pugs he invite. We hit the jackpot of lulz, and procured a hunter who claims he got hacked, and as such has no trinkets whatsoever. However, he still has his epic druid stave… and everything else on him.

what made him suck wasn’t just the lack of gear. it was sitting at the back, while doing bosses, and noticing him just sending his pet out to dps while he sits and stares into the sky. At Maexxna, since we had a huge lack of ranged dps, we put him on “un-webbing” duties. The very first webbed person died, as he was just standing there, as usual, watching his pet dps the boss.

of course, what became more obvious later on was how this was most probably his first time in naxxramus. he didn’t know where to go, nor what to do. this was something that we had to find out from painful experiences rather than hearing it from him.

so let it be said again, i know i am beating quite a dead horse, but if you are a fresh 80, and if you haven’t played this game before – hell if you just recently ebayed the account, do everyone a favour and at least run normal heroics.

Ding-a-ling!!

Guess I got my wish, x 2!

Merry Christmas and happy new year (all belated)!! everyone!

I finally managed to ding 80, despite all my delays, distractions and sight-seeing. all this was done without too much questing into Zul’Drak. Essentially, I dinged with all of Dragonblight, Howling Fjord, 90% of Borean Tundra and like 30% of Grizzly Hills quests done.

Along the way, with some help, I have been power-levelling my tailoring, so that when I hit 80, I can either be immediately decked in moonshroud robe and gloves, or just have 1 last click. Moonshroud “set” takes approximately 20 days to complete, and that’s assuming that you are mooncloth spec. That didn’t quite happeened anyways.

Holy Talents for Raiding

Firstly, I am a cheap jerk. The talent tree i proposed for myself didn’t quite work out, at least not in many people’s opinions. Within the new guild’s runs, I have actually managed to be the cause of several wipes on heroics, simply because:

  1. I suck at moving heals
  2. I couldn’t heal on time
  3. Or, I could heal on time and heal quickly, but the cooldowns were slower than needed.

just basically, the heals were not sufficient or on time. Frankly, I didn’t know if it was me or other people, because the tank himself has never tanked before Wotlk. he was a warlock. therefore, it could have easily been a mish mash of me learning heroic fights, unable to keep up with the heals and him needed to learn tanking and re-speccing.

Furthermore, a change of groups, with me running heroics through with a different tank did seem to work just fine.

after a few play arounds though, i have had enough. I couldn’t afford to maintain my repairs costs, and perhaps having to pay for others’ repairs since they were guildies and i seriously am beginnign to think that’s my fault. So I switched to the 14/57 recommendation and am sitting it out to test it. Haven’t been able to test it much yet though, i think the wipes scared people off :p

intercession to show off my epic carpet :D

Gearing for raids

Fortunately, or unfortunately, my guild wanted to dip their hands straight into raiding the moment i dinged 80. While i have managed to get my hands on a moonshroud set, eventually, it is nothing like the mooncloth set in its time and era.  It doesn’t cover my shoulders, for one, and there’s definitely no other matching head/pants set to cover me till another tier up.

The easiest way to go about gearing myself at least partially towards naxx (since most upgrades will definitely come from naxx itself) was to actually grind heroics and rep. Rep gear, while not as awesome as the TBC variations, can still hold their own at least till that wonderous Staff of Draconic Combat decides to stop evading the rest of the world.

While we are on the gearing topic though, I just thought I should mention this:

Haste rating is important!!!! Well, to a certain extent, but definitely something to be aware of.  as to why, I am unable to fully describe it yet. it just seems that it’s better to be able to cast quickly, especially with bosses that needs “moving about” as part of your strategy, than to have a deep fried healer.

While i was a tool and vendored a good quest reward, Wyrmrest accord gives a good enough (sans spirit) one handed weapon with haste rating - Gavel of the Brewing Storm. While, on it’s own, it it’s not very statistically delicious, compared to malygos’ favor, the haste rating and the crit rating, plus the additional spellpower (and throw in a good off hand into that all) will somewhat make up for the sadness. :p

Deathchill cloak is currently a bitch to obtain just yet.

that’s it for now!
